Report
Afterward, we study the “collisions” to make sense of what we’ve seen and heard, and report back to the community. Our report is intended to advise a subsequent action plan. Depending upon outcomes, the report may contain recommendations based on consensus that is intended to inform decision-makers and encourage the implementation of sound policy. Or, the report may suggest that an alternative route might provide a more effective course of action.

The Triple-Effect
Our process and model have the potential to achieve a
triple-effect:

  1. The act of sharing challenging personal experiences often has a transformative, healing affect on the storyteller
  2. The storyteller’s personal experience has a transformative personal effect on the group participants themselves
  3. The group participants, through the process of dynamic engagement on the issue and sharing outcomes, are able to transform the broader community

  1. Pre and Post-Dialogue Community Polling will be conducted to measure changes in pre-dialogue assumptions about the topic as a result of the dialogue and engagement process.
  2. “Witnesses” directly affected will share with participants as a basis for the ensuing dialogue.
  3. Experienced and talented moderators will keep the conversation focused on the subject matter, as well as ensure each participant has an equal opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
  4. Our model is inspired by several essential processes including, Participatory Democracy, Deliberative Democracy, Deliberative Polling, Appreciative Inquiry.
  5. Dissemination of outcomes and public engagement is as important to our process as the dialogue, itself.  Post-event follow-through includes:
  • Video and Audio Recording of Dialogue Events for upload to our website in podcast/videocast series format for local/regional broadcast.
  • Dialogue Reports will be distributed to key decision makers in the community, and to the public via the website, a newsletter, and social media.
  • Website – updates will serve as a hub for experiencing the dialogues, through video and audio (uploads and podcasts), as well as offer opportunities for engagement through polling, surveys, a discussion forum, blogging, and other online publication.
  • Social Media actively used for establishing, growing, and maintaining dynamic, meaningful, and ongoing engagement with the public. This is especially true of the student and young-professional demographic that we recognize has been largely alienated from the process of authentic dialogue.
